Concept
This teaser concept for the Science Channel encapsulates their tagline, “Question Everything.” The sequence centers around skin mites inhabiting our skin. These miniscule creatures, known as Demodex Folliculorum, had initinally been thought as parasites. However, research suggests that they feed on sebum and helps keep our skin clean, indicating symbiosis rather than parasitism.

This sequence reveals what could be happening on our skin right now, where skin mites are represented as office workers who are unable to control sebum secretion and cause a pimple eruption.

Character Design

For the character design, we wanted each of the character design to reflect on how each character react in the case of a pimple emergency. To achieve this, we assigned different emotional aspect to the character (humor, anger, panic, nonchalance, fear) and designed their appearance based on the emotions. We also referenced the TV show “The Office” and study how characters interact in an office setting.
