Concept
Science Channel is a TV network dedicated to exploring science, technology, and the natural world. This illustrated teaser concept for the Science Channel brings their tagline, "Question Everything," to life by exploring the hidden world of mites that inhabit our skin. Although they were once misunderstood as parasites, recent studies have revealed their symbiotic role in regulating the oil in our skin.

My 30-second teaser concept highlights this discovery by depicting skin mites as office workers struggling to manage oil secretion, ultimately causing a pimple eruption.

Key Insights Through this collaboration, I learned to craft narratives from scientific facts, using humor and design to reframe misconceptions and make science more accessible to a broader audience. By depicting mites as essential workers, I aimed to showcase how scientific discoveries reshape our understanding of everyday life.

Character Design
For the character design, we focused on how each character would react to a pimple emergency, assigning emotions like humor, anger, panic, nonchalance, and fear. Their appearances were designed to reflect these emotions, emphasizing the humorous tone of the sequence.

Storyboard
The storyboard takes the concept and combines it with the narrative, using illustration as a strategic choice. It transforms an unsettling subject into something playful and engaging, making science more accessible. The stylized, exaggerated approach, paired with humor, softens the "ick factor" while adding relatability to an unseen world.
